Filled with Jingle-y dreamy melodies, groovy crunchy basslines, tight punchy drums, atmospheric arrangements, and samples pulled from early ecological documentaries, Natural Coarse brings a unique approach to the Instrumental Hip-Hop genre. After years of producing sample-based Hip-Hop in other projects, this work represents a move by King Poobah to emphasize original songwriting and arrangement while preserving the sonic qualities of Hip-Hop and Pop Electronic. Conceptually, this album attempts to re-mystify the natural world by exposing some of the most quirky and impressive behaviors in the animal kingdom and provokes the listener to interrogate their relationship to the environment. All in all this record serves as an example of King Poobah’s capabilities as a solo artist and songwriter.
